Levi Ski Resort is an original destination surrounded by a unique cluster of services. We offer snow-crowned trees, astonishing landscapes stretching out toward the horizon, and various slopes and routes serving enthusiasts of different sports throughout the year.
And everything we do is basedon our love of sport and the fell. The fell and the related services are developed from the heart, respecting and cherishing the sensitive arctic nature. The fell is dedicated to movement and sports.
Downhill activities have been organized in Levi since 1964, and Oy Levi Ski Resort Ltd was established in 1976. During this time, the fell has seen substantial development in terms of the slopes, lifts, and services both during the winter and summer months. “Moving Levi” is both the motto of the ski resort and a summary of our ideology in terms of development. The ski resort wants to provide excellent exercise and training facilities for both local people and visitors, to allow them to enjoy an active lifestyle and outdoor activities in the arctic nature around the year. Levi Ski Resort is constantly thinking of ways to offer better and more high-quality services on the fell. Investment decisions are made based on the customer experience and the feedback we receive, ensuring that the responsibility aspect is considered at all times.
- In 2018, we asked ourselves what Levi was as a ski resort, what our customers thought of our offering and services, what role did we have on the ski resort field, and what were our targets for development. At the same time, the ski resort was granted ISO 14001 environmental certification, which determines our work on the fell to a significant extent, says Marko Mustonen, Commercial Director of Levi Ski Resort.
- Levi Ski Resort is an investment-intensive enterprise. A significant portion of our profit is used for investments and development. Our operation is built around a comprehensive customer experience that comprises downhill skiing, cycling, infrastructure, services, and digitalization, among other things. We can say that we are without a doubt a world leader in terms of innovation and development. The ski resort also cooperates closely with alpine skiing and snowboarding clubs, cycling clubs, and national team athletes to ensure that the different segments offer high-quality services to a wide variety of enthusiasts ranging from beginners to professionals. The development of our services is also strongly influenced by our employees at the ski resort, most of whom are passionate downhill enthusiasts and want to create magnificent conditions and facilities for both local people and visitors. It is also important to us to offer employment to local residents, as that allows us to increase the vitality of the area even further, says Jouni Palosaari, CEO of Levi Ski Resort.
7 Months with Snow, 5 Months Without
Located in the Arctic region, the winter season in Levi lasts for approximately 7 months. Our development activities still focus on winter, but any changes and innovations should also serve the snowless period, i.e., the summer season. The fell is being modernized step by step, and we always aim to ensure that we use the latest technologies.
- Levi is the most advanced ski resort in Finland. We respond to our customers’ needs and develop our fine slope conditions further in a sustainable, high-quality manner. We always aim to develop and modernize existing areas by, for example, adding more efficient automated snowmaking and LED illumination, which allows us to save energy in our operations and improve the sustainability of our services, Marko explains.
- The short duration of summer in Lapland is of course a challenge, as that is when we have to implement major changes. This requires a lot of planning as to what projects to kick off, as there a lot of things we have to realize in
a short time. We also continue to develop our summer services each year while maintaining a similar pace. It is our aim to ensure effortless movement around the fell by skis, bikes, and Ski Bus, for example. Our service ideology is based on the idea that wherever you are on the fell, you can always reach the top or access services close by, Jouni sums up.
