Arto Majava - Freeskier
Arto ‘Ape’ Majava’s name is well known in freeski skiing circles and beyond - he is a freeski legend! Ape has built a long career and gained a lot of skiing experience throughout the decades. Ape has has been skiing around mountains and fells ever since the 90s. His long career in skiing has allowed him to experience more than many can even dream of in their lifetime. Free-skiing trips have taken Ape to almost all the continents all over the world. Ape has made freeski trips for example to the land of polar bears in Svalbard, to unknown and unchartered mountainous terrains of Patagonia, and took his clients to the soft and deep snows of Japan, and through the fells of Lapland back at home.
Ape hosts snow safety trainings, lectures about freeskiing and performs in different events. This upcoming winter he will also be hosting Freeski 101 clinics and courses for both beginners and more experienced skiers. Ape is also Protect Our Winter -ambassador and strives to set a good example and encourages others to do good things.
The soul and the beauty of freeskiing combines in Ape: he always has a twinkle in his eye, while enjoying the freedom and speed of skiing down the snowy slopes. Nevertheless, he always pays attention to safety requirements and takes actions towards climate change to ensure the continuation of the beloved hobby.
This winter you will meet Ape hosting freeski courses, the first one is for first-timers, and the next two winter courses are for those who have already tried some free-skiing.
