Museums and art exhibitions at Levi
EINARI JUNTTILA ART MUSEUM
Einari Junttila (1901–1975) is the earliest known artist from Kittilä, who was faithful to his calling as an interpreter of Lapland’s nature. The museum in Kittilä is open on Thursdays from 1pm to 5pm.
PALSA MUSEUM
Artist Kalervo Palsa’s (1947–1987) home and Getsemane studio are in the centre of Kittilä village.
The studio has wall paintings by the artist on display. Palsa museum is open from June until the end of September.
SÄRESTÖNIEMI MUSEUM
The best-known artist of his time, Reidar Särestöniemi (1925–1981); his home and art museum are in Kaukonen village of Kittilä. The exhibitions of this unique museum environment change every year, and there are plenty of Särestöniemi’s works on display.
Särestöniemi museum is open from Tuesdays to Saturdays from noon to 6 pm all year round.
In addition, Särestö puts on concerts and events.
SAMILAND
Samiland contains an exhibition area outdoors and in, where the European Union's only indigenous people’s history and present are on display.
SIRPA ALALÄÄKKÖLÄ
Sirpa Alalääkkölä has lived abroad for a long time and her art is presented in the reception and meeting rooms of Hotel Hullu Poro, where the artist has created great wall paintings.
