The best
Northern Lights viewing spots
Enjoy your aurora hunting!
ORANGE – LAKE IMMELJÄRVI (Immeltie 1, no parking facilities, private property): The best viewing spot on the frozen lake, be cautious of thin ice and only walk on marked walking trails. You may safely walk on the lake after the winter trails have been offcially opened. However, be cautious of thin ice at the northern end of the lake, where the river mouth with running water weakens the ice, as well as the man-made hole (avanto) in front of the Saunabaari.
BLUE – TOP OF THE LEVE FELL (Tunturitie 424–450): Free parking in the end of Tunturitie road.
GREEN – SOUTH POINT (Levin ympärystie 1045): A dark area for viewing with free parking.
PINK – MUONIONTIE 2030: A dark area for viewing, follow the signposts to the designated spot.
IMPORTANT!
Respect private property and avoid entering private yards.
Be cautious with Google Maps, as some roads may be snow-covered and used for snowmobiling or cross-country skiing. Walking on those trails is not allowed.
