Levi Officially Designated as an Olympic Training Center

Levi Ski Resort has received a significant recognition for its long-standing efforts in developing world-class conditions for winter sports, competitive skiing, and professional training.

Levi has officially been designated as an Olympic Training Center, further solidifying its position at the forefront of Finnish winter sports industry.

Excellence and world-class facilities

Levi is renowned as one of Finland’s most internationally recognized organizers of annual sports events. The Levi Alpine Skiing World Cup race is widely celebrated for its snow reliability and top-tier conditions. Levi’s commitment to advancing training opportunities has been strengthened through collaboration with the Finnish Ski Association, Ski Sport Finland, and Levi Snow Sport Academy. This new partnership with the Finnish Olympic Committee further enhances Levi’s sports network.

- Levi has, for years, made significant investments to develop conditions that meet the needs of high-performance sports and is internationally recognized as a competition and training center. Finnish elite athletes in alpine skiing and other slope sports benefit greatly from Levi’s conditions. Numerous national teams train at Levi in early winter, which also enables valuable international collaboration. We at the Olympic Committee are proud of Levi and its dedication to elite sports, says Jaana Tulla, Director of Sports Club Activities, Finnish Olympic Committee.

Investments that support elite sports

The ski resort’s major investments—such as the Levi Black World Cup slope, gondola lift, and competition center—have elevated Levi to the status of an international ski destination. Recent developments, including the Levi Glacier project, snow recycling technologies, and projects to enhance conditions for various slope sports, have cemented Levi’s reputation as a snow-reliable ski center and a premier training hub. Each early winter, Levi hosts training camps for sports teams from nearly 40 countries in alpine skiing, freestyle skiing, and cross-country skiing. Currently, Levi’s winter season spans an impressive seven and a half months, from early October to the third week of May.

- Levi’s significance for alpine sports is extremely important, and it is wonderful that Levi is now officially recognized for its work in developing conditions, events, and the operational environment for sports. Levi’s recent investments, especially in improving early winter training conditions, have also received significant international recognition, which is a great achievement for Finland’s alpine sports culture, says Janne Leskinen, CEO of Ski Sport Finland.

Looking ahead

The Olympic Training Center designation reinforces Levi’s role within Finland’s elite sports network. With snow reliability, modern facilities, and a reputation as a leader in the industry, Levi is well-positioned for future development.

- As a result of persistent and forward-thinking efforts, Levi has become a high-standard international training, education, and competition center for ski sports. The Alpine Skiing World Cup event and the training center’s international appeal as a training site for the world’s best athletes highlight the immense global interest in Levi as a destination. Sports collaborations have been a significant factor in Levi’s rise as an international ski resort. Internationalism has been one of the driving forces behind the growth of the Levi region, enabling substantial upgrades to the resort. Today, we offer world-class conditions and services for both domestic and international customers. We are especially pleased to collaborate on future projects with the Olympic Committee and the skilled network of sports associations, says Jouni Palosaari, CEO of Levi Ski Resort.
