Levi Ski Resort invests in biking developing – Levi Bike Resort concept on the horizon
Oy Levi Ski Resort Ltd is launching a long-term project aimed at developing mountain biking in Levi to meet international standards in line with its winter ski resort operations and brand. Quality, sustainability, and meeting customer expectations are at the heart of the development efforts.
- Mountain biking is experiencing strong growth and is becoming the flagship summer product in Levi. However, everything boils down to the trails, and we want to naturally be part of this journey while strongly investing in mountain biking activities in the fell area. This means a future biking experience that is easily accessible and suitable for everyone, while also catering to enthusiasts and those seeking more adventurous rides, says Marko Mustonen, Commercial Director of Levi Ski Resort.
The first phase will include the construction of the Gondola Skill Park to Levi Black area, suitable for novice mountain bikers and families, where riding experiences are made possible by a carpet lift. This will be completed during the summer of 2024. At the same time, the four-kilometer long Sunny South trail, partially opened last summer, will also be finalized, providing a safe and enjoyable mountain biking experience for all.
- The first phase enables experiences for beginners and those less experienced in mountain biking, for whom we haven’t had enough easy trails. However, simplicity doesn’t mean dullness but rather varied riding moments, where it's possible to enjoy mountain biking safely. After this initial phase, we will progress step by step towards a comprehensive offering that provides multiple days of riding experiences in the Levi fell landscape. It's important to also recognize the expectations of future cyclists regarding the trail network, which may be influenced by factors such as e-bikes and other technological advancements, adds Marko Mustonen.
Allegra, with its strong international experience in building sustainable and high-quality trail networks, serves as Levi Ski Resort's partner in mountain biking development. Their clients include destinations like Kitzbühel (AUT), St. Moritz (SUI), Sölden (AUT), Lenzerheide (SUI), Dolomites (ITA), and Niseko (JPN).
- Collaborating with Levi Ski Resort is fantastic for us. Everyone knows about Levi from the Alpine Ski World Cup and the exoticism of Lapland. Now, together, we get to develop a new kind of trail network and story. I'm convinced that Levi will become an even more appealing destination for international mountain bikers in the future, reflects Claude Balsiger from Allegra.
