Levi was chosen as the Ski Resort of the Year 2023!
Levi Ski Resort was awarded as the Ski Resort of the Year at the spring meeting of the Finnish Ski Area Association on Thursday, May 4th, in Himos. The judging panel particularly recognized Levi's ability to listen to the wishes of skiers and snowboarders and respond to them enthusiastically. The panel also appreciated Levi's long-term development work. The international snow sport instructors' Interski Congress held in Levi was also recognized as the Achievement of the Year at the same event.
The panel justified the award by saying that Levi's development has been tremendous, and the resort has made huge investments. Levi's performance areas for various skiing enthusiasts, professionals, and amateurs have also been recognized internationally. The resort has an open-minded approach to the wishes and needs of customers, making it a great place for everyone.
- By investing significantly, systematically and methodically, you can achieve a lot. Levi has done even more - developed the ski resort to better serve the needs of skiers, and in some cases, even exceeding them," said Kristiina Hietasaari (Visit Finland - Business Finland), who led the panel of representatives from tourism, media, and ski associations. The panel was significantly assisted by the results of a survey conducted on the Ski.fi website, in which over 4,000 skiers expressed their opinions.
- Our heartfelt thanks for this award go to our customers, staff, and all our partners. In recent years, we have invested significantly in developing the customer experience, which also includes the resort's digital experience. Through our investments, we have sought to meet the needs and wishes of our customers, and it is gratifying to see that we have succeeded," commented Levi Ski Resort CEO Jouni Palosaari.
- Environmental awareness and innovation are strategic choices and goals for Levi Ski Resort. As an important area, we have invested significantly in stored snow, which enables us to offer our customers the opening of the skiing, snowboarding and cross-country skiing season in October and thus provide our customers with a long skiing season. Snow storage is also an environmentally friendly act, as recycling and utilizing the snow the following season reduces the need for snowmaking in the warmer early season conditions. We are the only ski resort in the Nordic countries to have been awarded the ISO 14001 environmental certificate for long-term work," says Levi Ski Resort's Commercial Director Marko Mustonen.
Levi's next winter season will start with preserved snow on October 6th. The upcoming ski season will also be Levi's 60th anniversary.
The snow sport instructors' congress, Interski, was the achievement of the year
The biggest event of the ski season 2022-2023 was held in March when Interski gathered almost 1,400 snow sport instructors from over thirty countries for the international congress held every four years. The event held in Levi acted as a unique learning and knowledge-sharing platform, while showcasing Finland's diversity and strength as a ski destination to the entire global skiing community.
The impressive meeting environment combined with excellent organization took the Interski event to a whole new level. The event was organized by Visit Levi in collaboration with the Finnish National Association of Snowsport Instructors and Levi Ski Resort.
- The event was unique as it lasted for a week and the atmosphere was really great and communal. Finnish Lapland charmed snow sport instructors from all over the world by offering excellent winter conditions, good snow, and auroras. In addition, visitors were delighted with the Arctic light. Such events are the best marketing for Finland and Levi, says Visit Levi's CEO Satu Pesonen.
