Skiing and cross-country skiing season has begun
Levi’s skiing and cross-country skiing season officially opened on Friday, October 4th, 2024.
Known as a snow-secure ski resort, Levi’s skiing season lasts over seven months. The goal is to keep skiing in the Northeast Slopes area with the new Levi Six chairlift until May 18th.
At the moment, skiing is possible at the Front Slopes, which also feature moguls and a park. In addition, Levi has opened the cross-country skiing season, with a 3 km section of preserved snow track near Northeast Slopes now available.
Levi Ski Resort’s long-term work in snow preservation, ensuring snow security, and developing year-round operations was honored yesterday when the Finnish Lapland Tourist Board awarded Levi Ski Resort the 2024 Lapland Tourism Achievement of the Year award.
"We are proud that representatives of Lapland’s tourism industry value our work and recognize its significance for the entire Lapland region. This recognition encourages us to continue developing our operations, and we are happy to announce that the winter season will continue until mid-May, adding two extra weeks of skiing time," says Levi Ski Resort's CEO Jouni Palosaari.
This winter season is expected to be successful with both domestic and international visitors. Already, one in four visitors to Levi’s Ski Resort is from abroad. Additionally, the season's new features are drawing increased interest, including the new Levi Six chairlift replacing the old T-bar lift at Northeast Slopes, which will be inaugurated in early December. A new slope-side restaurant will also open near the Levi West chairlift during the winter holiday season.
"We are looking forward to a very exciting winter. Our record-long season, diverse and top-notch conditions, and extensive renovations on the slopes and services are highly anticipated by our customers," says Commercial Director Marko Mustonen.
Starting next week, Levi will see a large number of alpine skiers preparing for their competition season. Levi’s World Cup event will open both the women’s and men’s slalom seasons on November 16th–17th. Out of the 6,000 ski resorts worldwide, only 11 host an alpine skiing World Cup event, and Levi is one of the select few where the world’s best alpine skiers compete for top positions each year.
