Sunny South and Hidden Forest Skill Park are open!

The Levi Bike Park trails have been updated during the summer of 2024 as part of a long-term development plan. The goal is to offer Levi's visitors approachable and new biking experiences in the fell in the future.

The massive growth in the popularity of biking is driven by the global megatrend of wellness and sustainable mobility, particularly emerging from urban environments. In cities, more people want to commute, engage in activities, or enjoy their free time by bike. This has created, and will continue to create, a whole new target group seeking accessible biking and nature experiences during their travels. Levi’s fell environment offers a fantastic response to this demand!

What's happened first?

Traditionally, lift-assisted or bike park riding has been associated with perceptions of danger and difficulty. Downhill biking may not have been as approachable as, for example, skiing or snowboarding. The main reason for this has been the trails, which are often too challenging for beginners. Just as in skiing, where you don't start with black slopes but progress at your own pace and comfort level, Levi is focusing on ease and approachability!

At the end of June, the Hidden Forest Skill Park opened in the Levi Gondola area. This park is designed specifically as a starting point for beginners, children, and families, as well as a place for more experienced riders to refine their skills. Here, you can safely and guidedly get acquainted with the sport and experience the fun of downhill riding one trail at a time. Access to the trails is conveniently provided by a magic carpet lift. Hidden Forest Skill Park features four different trails, each with its own unique feel. By riding these trails multiple times, you will get a great introduction to the world of bike park riding. Even experienced riders will enjoy Hidden Forest, making it an excellent place to start the day's rides and hone their skills!

After exploring the Hidden Forest Skill Park, it’s time to put your bikes on the gondola and head to the top. From there, you'll find over ten trails, the latest addition being Sunny South. This over four-kilometer flow trail offers a completely new riding experience in Levi and is a great next step after Hidden Forest. Starting from the top, this blue trail, which means it's easy as known from skiing, is Levi’s longest and one of the longest in Finland. You can expect not only a rhythmic ride but also a bit of a pleasant burn in your thighs, which you can manage by taking breaks. Sunny South offers thrilling curves, berms, and rollers starting from the rocky landscapes and ending in the enticing forests on the west side of Levi, ultimately returning to the gondola area. The trail captivates, brings a smile to your face, and invites you to ride again!

Future Prospects

Developing biking in the slope areas is a significant part of Levi Ski Resort’s future. During the summer of 2024, a plan was formulated to guide Finland’s leading ski resort step by step into an international biking center.

Levi Ski Resort's partner is Allegra, whose clients include Austria's Sölden and Kitzbühel, Switzerland's Lenzerheide and Graubünden, and Italy's Dolomites. In Japan, Allegra's influence can be seen in places like Fuji and Niseko. At Levi, Allegra's design and construction team included several Americans who have been enchanted by Lapland's nature and the spirit of Levi. They are eagerly looking forward to returning to Levi’s landscapes!
