Levi Snow Sport Academy
Come to Levi and Kittilä to combine your downhill skiing or snowboarding hobby with your upper secondary education!
Levi Snow Sport Academy was founded in 1999 under the name Levin Alppikoulu, and it offers two different study programmes; an athlete study programme and a ski instructor programme, which seven students attended. By the spring of 2019, the Snow Sport Academy's operations have enabled 96 students to graduate with a matriculation examination. You can either study at Kittilä Upper Secondary School or Levi Institute (REDU) or combine your studies at both! On the vocational side, we offer tourism, hotel, restaurant, and catering studies.
The Ski Instructor study programme offers students the opportunity to complete an Alpine ski instructor or snowboard instructor vocational degree alongside their studies, after which they are competent to work as a ski instructor. Approximately a third of the teachers at Levi Ski School have completed the Ski Instructor study programme at the Snow Sport Academy.
The FreeRide studies allow students to complete their Alpine ski instructor training alongside their studies. The training content during the studies however focuses on freeride and associated phenomena.
The Athlete study programme allows students to professionally practice towards their objective of being a professional athlete alongside their studies and reach the level of top international athletes in the national team.
The High School Camp to be carried out in cooperation with the Sports Academy of Lapland has gained a lot of popularity. The participants currently include 8 Freeriders and 18 Alpine Skiers.
Therefore, our total number of students is currently already more than 60!
